Alan Lasser’s Game of the Week        May 2, 2009

I couldn't choose between the two losses.  Brian Cohen plays a fine game to rout the "Bad Opening", with a pseudo-sacrifice and a quick mate.  By definition it's already a bad opening, there's no margin for error, slip up and you're toast. The other game is a wild and crazy game/20 against three time State Champion Likhit Ganedi, that one has more back and forth blunders, and a lot of entertainment value.  At the end of a long combination, his rook is trying to stop my two passed pawns and it's only move 15. The best variations were incalculable at that time limit. I was the one who blew the big material in time pressure. You don't see games like that very often so I exercised the editor's right to include them both.  Oh, you lucky readers.
